Dark brown mushroom, full of nutrients
Chaga (Inonotus obliquus Fuscoporia obliqua) is the most common name (Russian: pronounced chah-ga) for a fungus or mushroom from the Hymenochaetaceae family. In the Netherlands, this mushroom is rare and is called Birch Weather Mushroom. It grows on damaged or old birches in cold areas.
Our Chaga is collected on birch trees in Northeast China (also in Inner Mongolia and Siberia). Organic wild collection according to EU/VO 834/2007 and EU/VO 889/2008. When buying chaga, make sure that the chaga you buy has been harvested in the wild. Cultivated chaga does not contain any special properties.
What's in chaga?
Chaga is full of polysaccharides, antioxidants and several sterols. Sterols are plant steroids. Chaga also contains betulin all the amino acids except isoleucine.
